QURAN \r\n
\r\n
\r\n

Translation:

\r\n

"O \r\n you who believe! Take not for protecting friends and guardians \r\n (Awliya) (even) your fathers and your brothers, \r\n if they love infidelity above faith: If any of you do so,they \r\n are the oppressors. (O Prophet) Say to them: If your fathers, \r\n your sons, your brothers, your wives, or your near \r\n and dear ones; the wealth which you have gained; the \r\n trade in which you fear decline; or the homes in which \r\n you delight-if all these things- are dearer to you than \r\n Allah and His Messenger and the struggle (Jihad) \r\n in His Way, then wait till Allah passes His judgment on \r\n you; for Allah does not guide the wicked people."

Tafseer:

\r\n

OUR PRIORITIES: \r\n PUTTING ALLAH FIRST

\r\n
    \r\n
\r\n
    \r\n
  • In these verses Muslims \r\n are shown their priorities in terms of their obedience \r\n and love towards others. The Prophet (peace be upon \r\n him) once said, "There is no obedience to a creature \r\n in disobedience to the Creator (Allah)." In these \r\n verses Allah is advising and commanding us to not \r\n to heed the advice or opinions of even our beloved \r\n family members, if they do not love Allah and are simply \r\n 'consumers' of this world. \r\n
  • Allah recognizes in these \r\n verses that a person's heart clings to: (1) his/her \r\n own relatives and family members, (2) wealth and prosperity, \r\n (3) commerce or means of profit, or (4) noble buildings/structures, \r\n for dignity and comfort. \r\n
  • If these are a hindrance \r\n in Allah's cause and make us insensitive to the physical \r\n and spiritual sufferings of humanity, we have to choose \r\n which we love the most. It is not possible to claim that \r\n we love Allah and Islam, and our actions remain sinful, \r\n or we remain unconcerned about the numerous socially and \r\n morally sick people in our society, or we forget about \r\n those young and old Muslims who die every day in all parts \r\n of the world, defending the banner of Islam. Therefore, \r\n if we really love Allah, we should learn how to give sacrifices \r\n of all else, to prove our love to Him.
  • \r\n
\r\n
END OF THOSE WHO ARE 'ADDICTED' \r\n TO THEIR OWN WORLDLY PASSIONS
\r\n
    \r\n
  • Let's also ponder upon \r\n the implication of 'addicting' to the worldly pleasures \r\n in our lives. Haven't we seen enough of chaos, violence, \r\n greed, sexually transmitted diseases, broken families, \r\n depression, suicides...etc., prevalent in our society, \r\n to wake us up? How much longer are we going to wait, before \r\n these anti-social, immoral, and degrading diseases afflict \r\n our own homes? Everyday we witness the end of those \r\n who run after the treasures of this world and are  \r\n in a desperate pursuit of fulfilling their desires \r\n to overcome their depression.

\r\n
SUCCESS, STRENGTH, AND SACRIFICES \r\n OF THE SAHABA
\r\n
    \r\n
  • One of the secrets of success \r\n and strength of the generation of Companions was that \r\n they knew how to love Allah and His Messenger (pbuh) over \r\n everything else in their lives. They drew their ideas, \r\n manners, priorities of responsibility and obedience, solely \r\n from the pure spring of guidance, the Quran- for which \r\n they gave innumerable sacrifices. But today, unfortunately,  \r\n we take this guidance for granted. \r\n
  • It is important to remember: \r\n If we love our worldly ties, comforts, profits, and our \r\n relatives who do not value the gift of Islam, more than \r\n we love Allah and therefore fail to respond to Allah's \r\n cause, it is not Allah's cause which will suffer. Allah's \r\n purpose will be accomplished, with or without us. But \r\n our failure to respond to His will and Jihad, \r\n must leave us bereft of Allah's guidance: "....for \r\n Allah guides not the rebellious." (9:24) \r\n
  • During the time of the \r\n Prophet (pbuh) most of his companions gave up every thing \r\n they had, strove and fought in Allah's cause, sometimes \r\n against their own family members. And they won through. \r\n But those who were not prepared for such sacrifices and \r\n whose hearts became blind to His guidance, their \r\n failure did not stop the accomplishment of Allah's plan \r\n and purpose.

\r\n
Ibn \r\n Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the \r\n Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "There are TWO BLESSINGS \r\n which many people lose: (They are) HEALTH and FREE \r\n TIME for doing good."

\r\n
[Explanation: \r\n There are many people who do not use their leisure time \r\n and health for performing some constructive work for Islam \r\n and for their own good. How many times we see our friends \r\n "listening to music to kill their time."? \r\n Imam Ash-Shafiee (Rahimahullah) once said, "Time \r\n is like a sword; if you don't cut it (i.e. utilize it wisely), \r\n it will cut you." Another scholar of the past said, \r\n "One of the many signs that a person is disliked (by \r\n Allah) is the wasting of (one's) time."] \r\n

Signs \r\n Before the Hour- What have we prepared for it? \r\n
\r\n
\r\n
\r\n

\r\n
Scholars \r\n have identified the Signs of the Day of Judgment in THREE  \r\n categories:
\r\n

\r\n
1. The \r\n Signs that have already occurred - \r\n For example, Birth of the Prophet; the death of Uthman; \r\n the fall of Constantinople; the fall of Rome to the Muslims; \r\n fire in Medina resulted by Volcano eruption.
\r\n
\r\n
2. The \r\n Signs that have occurred and continue to intensify - \r\n intoxicants widely used; nakedness in the marketplaces \r\n with thighs fully exposed, so severe that people will \r\n fornicate in public places and the best of people will \r\n tell them to fornicate somewhere else; speed in travel \r\n of great distances, would traverse in a very short period \r\n of time; hop between clouds and earth; some people will \r\n dance with instruments in their heads and some would spend \r\n the whole night in that state; singing women will be prevalent \r\n in public places.
\r\n
\r\n
3. Signs \r\n that haven't occurred \r\n - Dajjal mentioned in the \r\n Quran implicitly; purple smoke in the sky. \r\n

Greeting \r\n the Birth of a Child
\r\n

\r\n \r\n
\r\n
\r\n
Hussain \r\n bin Ali (May Allah be pleased with him) once told someone \r\n that the birth of a child should be greeted in the following \r\n words:
\r\n

\r\n
"May \r\n Allah bless you with prosperity in this gift and grace you \r\n with the ability to thank Him (Allah). May Allah enable \r\n your child to grow and enjoy youth, and may he be obedient \r\n to you."
